South San Francisco Adult Education

    Dear SSFUSD Community:

According to the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) AIRNow index, air quality levels have substantially improved over the weekend.

As these improved conditions are expected to continue into next week, we have determined that our schools will be OPEN as regularly scheduled on Monday, November 19th, and Tuesday, November 20th.

(Please note that our district observes school holidays on Wednesday, November 21st through Friday, November 23rd)

While conditions remain in the “Unhealthy” range of the Air Quality Index (AQI), we will be continuing to enact our limited outdoor activity protocol. This includes modifying daily activity that would otherwise be conducted outdoors, such as moving physical education classes, lunch activities, recess, outdoor rallies, sporting events, etc., to indoor facilities, or in some cases, cancellation of activities.

If conditions change to the “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” range of the Air Quality Index (AQI), all outdoor school activities would continue as normal, however, students with known respiratory conditions such as asthma would be encouraged to refrain from outdoor activities that involve heavy physical exertion, such as athletic practices.

Families who are concerned about the health of their students will be allowed keep their students at home. Any such student will be given an excused absence.

While we are following the Air Quality Forecast, we will also be actively monitoring conditions in South San Francisco and all local areas of our schools. If conditions change, we will post an update and communicate with our schools to ensure our community remains informed.

    job fair

SSF Adult Education hosted our annual Job Fair last May 10, 2017. The successful event included 21 different organizations and was attended by over 100 students including our very own ESL and High School Diploma students, Baden High School students, Jefferson Adult School students, and community members. Many of those who attended were not only able to network with a variety of different companies but were offered the opportunity to interview, or even obtain employment! This event would not have been possible without the participation of all the organizations and their representatives which included: Comcast, Molly Maid, Synergy Homecare, New South Parking, Swissport, Embassy Suites, McDonald's, FedEx, Target, ChildCare Careers, Select Staffing, Big 5 Sporting Goods, CDS, Sky Chefs, Skyline College, Spark Point, Full Steam Staffing, IHSS Care Givers, Pick-Up Stix, USPS, and South West Greens.
